How to use these tools together
Most quoting decisions run in the same order, and the tools are built to hand off to each other.
- Measure the cargo. Start with the CBM calculator to get total volume and piece count from your packing list.
- Find the billing basis. Feed the same dimensions into the chargeable weight calculator to see whether air will bill volume or gross, and what the sea LCL revenue tons come to.
- Check it fits. If the volume is approaching a full load, the container size guide tells you whether FCL is now cheaper than LCL.
- Price it. Put the chargeable figure and the rates you have been quoted into the cost estimator so you are comparing landed cost, not just freight.
- Plan the dates. Use the transit time calculator to work backwards from a required delivery date to a cargo ready date.
- Agree the terms. Confirm with the Incoterms guide that the term on your purchase order actually covers the charges you have budgeted for.
Frequently asked questions
Are these tools free to use?
Yes, entirely. There is no sign-up, no usage limit and no charge. They are here because informed shippers are easier to work with than uninformed ones.
Is my shipment data sent to Pioneer Express?
No. Every calculation runs in JavaScript inside your own browser. Nothing you enter leaves your device, and nothing is stored. If you want us to see your figures, use the rate inquiry form.
How accurate are the results?
The arithmetic is exact and follows standard IATA and FIATA conventions. Accuracy of the answer depends on your inputs — carriers apply their own rounding increments, minimum charges and divisors, so treat the output as a close planning figure rather than a final invoice.
Why do the calculators not include rates?
Freight rates move weekly and vary by lane, carrier, volume and season. A tool that guessed a rate would mislead you. Enter the rates you have actually been quoted and the estimator will do the rest.
Can I use these figures on customs documents?
Use them to prepare, not to declare. Final declared weights and measurements should come from the carrier's or terminal's own weighbridge and measuring equipment, since those are the figures the invoice and the customs entry will be raised against.
